US brass Naval watercap fuse adapter, dated 1863. No lead safety patch; watercap has been replaced with a reproduction. Adapter is screwed into a brass bushing that does come off. Stamped lettering with navy anchor symbol remains on the head. Adapter measures approximately 2 3/8” long and the bushing is about one inch. Head measures about 1 ¼” in diameter. Adapter exhibits small surface dents and dings and an uneven patina. [JT]
