This shell was once part of the DuBose Collection at Atlanta, GA. The shell has the remains of a Zinc Parrott fuse adapter. Sans the brass sabot. It has never been cleaned and has heavy surface action on the projectile. Varnished projectile would clean to a semi-smooth surface.  [mk]
