Item is in good relic condition. The lock is for a Model 1861 musket and appears to be complete except for the mainspring. The hammer is frozen in the half-cock position. All rust has been removed and the metal is semi-bright however moderate to severe pitting remains on all surfaces. Behind the hammer the year “1862” is visible. The front half of the year is almost obliterated but the second half is clearly visible. No markings forward of the hammer can be discerned. Location of recovery is not known.
