This relic consists of the socket and approx. 5.50 inches of the blade from a Model 1855 bayonet. The knuckle of the blade has been straightened and the blade flattened making it a very handy tool for digging up earth.

Item is rusted throughout but the heavy rust has been cleaned off and then the item was coated in clear lacquer. Socket is out of round on one edge.

Many of these type tools are recovered in Civil War camps and battlefields.   [ad]
