This is a great relic showing how the confusion of battle accounted for mistakes. In this instance a soldier forgot to remove the tompion from his Enfield rifle before firing. This is an English plug-cavity Enfield bullet speared by the brass stem of an Enfield tompion. The brass wire goes through the top of the bullet and sticks out of the side. All pieces are in good shape and have nice patina.  [jet]
