Relic condition Model 1849 pocket Colt missing the wood grips, part of the loading lever and its catch.
Octagon barrel meas. approx. 4.00 inches long with a mostly readable barrel stamp on the top flat. Last third of loading lever is missing. Lever is frozen.
Frame with wedge pin is present with a readable “COLT’S PATENET” on the left side. Cylinder is present but frozen. All original nipples appear to be present though one is broken in half. No markings are visible on the cylinder.
Hammer and trigger are present and both move but do not work. Brass triggerguard and grip frame is present. One screw is missing from the frame shoulder and the other is broken. [ad]
There is no serial number visible on the cylinder but all the rest are present and they match. Number is 309871 showing the revolver was produced in late 1868.
Attached to the weapon is a modern tag that reads “1849 COLT FOUND NEAR WAGON MOUND N. M. SANTA FE TRAIL.” Wagon Mound, New Mexico is located approx. 100 miles northeast of Albuquerque.
