$165.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 986-61

This excavated Pattern 1839 oval US cartridge box plate has beautiful clean brown patina. The brass face is nice and the “US” stands out well. The plate’s reverse has 99% of the lead fill with some very minor edge loss. The two iron loops have rusted off. The relic hunter wrote on the back, “WINCHESTER / DUG BY MOM, OCT 91 / BATTLE OF 5/13, 14, 15/1863. FOUND ON TOP OF HILL – LEFT SIDE OF MIDDLE ROAD.”  An original “dug” Civil War enlistedman’s cartridge box plate from Winchester.   [jet]
