Brass 5th corps badge has a darkened patina. Reverse originally featured a soldered attachment pin with hook, but all that is present is the base of both. Also present are two holes on the sides which were for sewing badge to the soldier’s hat or left side of the uniform. This avoided confusion on the battlefield as a soldier could quickly be identified. Corps badges became a great source of regimental pride to the men who wore them. Recovered in the Richmond, VA area.

Excellent collectible.

Measures 1- 3/8” across x 1- 3/8” high.  [SM]
