This is the tongue section only of a two-piece Confederate “CS” tongue and wreath plate.
The item is made of cast brass and is in excellent condition. It has a rectangular keeper with protruding bar and circular disc. At center of the disc are the very distinct letters “CS” which are cast as part of the piece.
A nice dug example. Location of recovery is not known. [ad]
