This is an excavated “eagle” plate for the shoulder strap of the infantry cartridge box. Brass face has a bright green patina typical of cultivated fields (chemical fertilizers). There is some minor edge damage but the central eagle stamping is clear and undamaged. Back has 80% lead fill with both wire loops rusted away.   [jet]
