RELIC MODEL 1851 NCO SWORD BELT PLATE WITH GILT

$395.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1000-1262

Excavated Civil War era non-commissioned officer’s belt buckle. Cast brass eagle buckle with integral wreath.  The buckle almost appears non-excavated as the gilt finish remains nearly intact. Only on the edges and on the tongue on the reverse does a true “dug” brass patina show. This style plate has the wide 1 ¼” hook on back. Gilt finish remains on much of the reverse also. The high relief detail of the eagle and wreath remains very crisp.  Same exact style as Plate 657 on page 396 of “American Military Belt Plates”. Listed as circa 1863-1865.   [jet]
