The plate has a very nice, deep, rich patina with a good “SNY” stamping. Plate is in very nice condition with only a small bit of the rim missing on the edge near the “Y.”

Reverse of the plate has both puppy-paw style hooks with a tongue that is complete but bent. Lead fill is 95% present with the missing bits coming mostly from the missing trim.

Plate is still attached to a 17.00 inch section of the original belt.

The item comes nicely displayed in a riker box with a label that reads “STATE OF NEW YORK BELT PLATE WITH 17 INCHES OF ORIGINAL LEATHER BELT ATTACHED TO PUPPY PAW STYLE HOOKS. THIS RELIC WAS RECOVERED IN A SPRING ALONG HARPERS FERRY TO ANTIETAM ROAD APPROXIMATELY 1 ½ MILES FROM BURNSIDE BRIDGE AT ANTIETAM.”  [ad]
