Item is an unfinished Griswold and Gunnison revolver. The barrel, cylinder, hammer and part of the loading lever are present.
Chambers have been bored out on the cylinder as well as the pintle hole. Barrel has not been bored but the basic shape has been turned. Much excess material remains giving the barrel a rather bulbous look. The hammer also has its basic shape.
Metal surfaces are bright but heavily pitted. Item appears to have been dug.
The parts are mounted on a wooden frame by brass wire.
Frame meas. approx. 16.75 x 12.00 inches.
