COMPLETE MODEL 1855 RIFLEMAN’S BUCKLE

$250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 543-41

Excavated rifleman’s buckle.  Found together with all four pieces.  There is an old Mac Mason identification painted on the face that has been mostly scraped off. There is an additional half buckle piece included.

The model 1855 rifleman’s buckle consists of a two-piece brass buckle and two brass belt slides. These slides have holes on the top which allow the regulation infantry knapsack to hook into.  This feature helped support the knapsack up on the shoulders.

The four pieces that comprise one full buckle are complete and unbroken.  All have matching green patina. The fifth piece, the half buckle, is broken and missing a one-inch portion.  Recovery location is unknown.  A very nice, complete set with an extra piece.   [jet]
