This is a “dug” artillery shell fired from 3” rifled cannons. This is the tall, smooth sided Read pattern shell. The wood drive-in fuse is missing as is the sabot. The typical CS lathe dimple is on the base. The iron body is pitted and the whole piece heavily coated. [jet]
