This is a spectacular relic from Petersburg, VA. A nearly complete .44 caliber Colt Army revolver. The only thing missing, and apparently the reason it was discarded, is the broken mainspring.
The revolver is in relic condition with moderate pitting to the iron, but all details remain distinct and visible. Even the patent stamp is still discernable on the left side of the frame. The serial number on the frame and trigger guard is 61707. This places the manufacture of this gun in mid-1862. The brass trigger guard has a dark patina. The whole piece has been coated.
The gun is fully capped and loaded. Complete except for the broken mainspring and a very displayable relic. [jet]
