This is an excavated block “I” button. Face has several small dents with smooth surface. Back does have a crease running across it but shank remains strong and stands straight. A recessed channel has the maker’s mark, “E.M. L&C. / RICHMOND, VA.” A complete Confederate infantry button priced according to condition.  [jet]
