This is an excavated block “I” button in very good condition. Face is about perfect with smooth, even brown patina. Back features a strong shank standing straight up. A recessed channel has the maker’s mark, “E.M. L&C. / RICHMOND, VA.” A beautiful “dug” Confederate infantry button.  [jet]
