This type of time fuse was manufactured in Federal arsenals. Made of white metal, a mixture of lead and zinc. Double wrench slot, the Bormann fuse had a burn time of .75 seconds to 5.5 seconds. Fuse is marked “US”, the “S” being backward. Used mainly in spherical shells, but found in rifled projectiles. Most numbers visible. Recovered in Atlanta.  [ws]
