Standard Pattern 1839 cartridge box plate recovered in a trash pit in a US Infantry camp at Tunnel Hill, GA. Missing both iron loops with about half of the lead back melted away. The remaining lead shows evidence of being in a fire. The hole appears to be from the blade of a triangular bayonet. [ws]
