RELIC MUZZLE SECTION OF MUSKET RECOVERED ON MARYLAND HEIGHTS

$27.50 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 236-108

This is a 4.25” breech portion of a rifle musket barrel that was cut off. The front blade sight / bayonet lug remains. A piece of oxidized lead (perhaps part of a bullet) is stuck in the muzzle end.

Iron is pitted as this is a “dug” relic.  Metal is uncoated but remains stable. Recovered on Maryland Heights by Dean Thomas.

These heights were heavily fortified with artillery to protect Harpers Ferry. Maryland Heights is the highest mountain overlooking Harpers Ferry and soldiers from one side or the other were there throughout the entire Civil War.  [jet]
