RESIN MINIATURE OF THE 3RD PENNSYLVANIA CAVALRY MONUMENT AT GETTYSBURG

Back in the late 1990’s resin miniatures of some of the Gettysburg battlefield monuments were offered for sale here at The Horse Soldier and were very popular. The company producing these monuments was small and eventually stopped production. Fortunately they have brought us the unsold portion of their inventory so we can once again offer these fine replicas to the public.

Though made of resin the monuments are painted and textured to match carved stone.

The particular miniature monument offered here is for the 3rd Pennsylvania Cavalry. The item stands approx. 6.25 inches high x 5.50 inches across the base. Depicted on the face of the monument is a mounted cavalryman with his carbine at the ready. The detail of the horse and rider is very good. Beneath the rider is “THIRD PENNSYLVANIA CAVALRY.” On the base of the monument is a cavalry insignia touched with bronze paint flanked by the words “CAVALRY CORPS.” At the very bottom is the seal of the State of Pennsylvania also done in bronze colored paint.

The reverse, unlike the original monument, is devoid of any text. Due to the scale of the miniature any text on the reverse would be unreadable.

The original monument to the 3rd Pennsylvania Cavalry stands on the East Cavalry Battlefield. The regiment was assigned to the 2nd Division of the Cavalry Corps at Gettysburg. It carried 394 men into the battle and lost 15 wounded and 6 missing.
