Navy blue, doubled-breasted, 18 button wool frock, with original buttons. Collar hooks, green velvet inner lining, with white linen inner sleeves, & inner belt hook cinch in the rear at the waist. Pieced & tailored in two segments, upper button & lower waist. Measures 37” in length from nape of neck, with 25” sleeves from shoulder, lower skirt 24” in width at the base. Minus shoulder straps, though remnants strap stitching is present on both shoulders. Left and right inner breast pockets. Buttons bright, consistent, and securely attached.

The coat has been well preserved, possibly by some museum [inner lining is stencil marked “4663/472/S”.] Unsoiled, it exhibits slight wear and light fraying [along the lower rear skirt] plus one small .5” neatly patched spot on the outer left breast, along with a handful minor moth nips. Inner linings intact and unsoiled. Else VG plus.

In all, a fine collectible and great display piece. Civil War naval officer frock coats are seldom seen in such good condition. Anchors aweigh…
