The top piece of this badge is a stamped brass spread-winged eagle that is very similar to those found on war-time ID badges. The reverse has the remains of the pin. The base and catch are present but the pin itself is gone.
The drop is a white metal disk. The obverse has a bust of Robert E. Lee at center with “GENERAL R. E. LEE” across the top. The reverse has Lee mounted on his horse with “LAYING OF CORNERSTONE R. E. LEE MONUMENT RICHMOND, VA. OCT 27, 1887.”
Item shows some light wear but is in overall good condition.
