Blue ribbon meas. approx. 2.00 inches wide x 4.25 inches long with the original pin still present on the reverse. Printing on the face of the ribbon is in gold but has faded with age. At top is “REUNION” over a large 19th Corps badge while below it is “25TH REGT. CONN. VOLS. UNIONVILLE, CONN. AUGUST 20TH 1895.” Except for the faded lettering the ribbon is in very nice condition.
The 25th Connecticut was recruited in Hartford and Tolland Counties in the fall of 1862 for nine months service. The regiment was sent to Louisiana where it saw action at Irish Bend, throughout the siege of Port Hudson, Brasher City and Bayou Boeuf. During its service the regiment lost 148 men killed and wounded and 65 men who died of disease.
