Red swallow-tail ribbon measuring approximately 1 1/2” wide x 4 1/4” long suspended from a round metal hanger with pin back. Face of this hanger reads “153D PA. VOL. INF’T.” Ribbon reads, “ANNUAL REUNION EASTON, PA. Sept. 23rd, 1911” in silver printing. The entire ribbon is clean and in solid condition with clear printing. Some very minor fraying along the bottom edge of the swallow-tail. A paper label inside the rear of the pin has the ribbon manufacturer’s information.
The 153rd was organized at Easton, PA in September, 1862. Attached to 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 11th Corps, Army of the Potomac, in July, 1863. The unit duty in the Defense of Washington, D. C. and then fought in the battles of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. They mustered out of service on July 24, 1863. The regiment lost 1 officer and 48 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 28 enlisted men by disease, for a total 77. [jet]
