Ribbon is white and meas. approx. 2.00 x 6.00 inches with a printed decoration at top of a row of stylized crosses within scalloped borders. Below this are printed crossed flag staffs with cloth US flags sewn to them. The flags were sewn to the ribbon slightly gathered to give the impression that the flags are waving in the breeze. Below this in gold lettering is “30TH ANNUAL REUNION 137TH N.Y.V. BINGHAMTON SEPT. 25, 1905.”

Ribbon has very light surface dirt with a small hole at top left. Bottom has an unfinished edge.

Reverse still retains the original pin and a complete paper label for the Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark, N.J.

The 137th New York served in the 12th Corps of the Army of the Potomac and later in the 20th Corps, Army of the Cumberland. It saw action at Antietam, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. In the latter battle the regiment played a pivotal part in holding on to Culp’s Hill on the evening of July2nd.

The regiment went west with its Corps and served at Wauhatchie, Lookout Mountain, Ringgold, Dallas, New Hope, Pine Knob, Kennesaw, Atlanta, Savannah and Goldsboro.

During its service the regiment lost 455 men killed, wounded, captured and died of disease.  [ad]
