White ribbon meas. approx. 2.50 x 6.75 inches with a silver ink border at top and original pin on reverse.

At top is a representation of a cavalry badge done in blue ink over text that is done in silver ink. Text reads “9^TH ILLINOIS CAVALRY VETERAN ASS’N TWELFTH REUNION CHICAGO SEPTEMBER 21^ST & 22^ND 1897. COMMITTEE OF RECEPTION.”

Ribbon is in overall nice condition.

The 9^th Illinois Cavalry was organized in November 1861. The regiment served in the Departments of Missouri and Tennessee. They were engaged in 23 skirmishes losing 7 officers and 45 enlisted men killed and died of wounds and another 241 men to disease. [ad]
