White ribbon printed with black ink on both sides. Front has “55TH ANNIVERSARY BATTLE OF WINCHESTER, SEPT. 19, 1864.” Below this is a etching of Brevet Major General Oliver Edwards. Beneath Edwards picture is “49TH ANNUAL REUNION OF THE 37TH MASS. REG’T ASS’N, MEMORIAL BUILDING, 44 STATE STREET SPRINGFIELD, MASS. SEPT.19, 1919.” Reverse side has list of battles for the regiment. Ribbon meas. approx. 8.75 inches long and is in good condition. There is a .50 inch split near the top and a 1.00 inch stress separation on one side. These do not affect any of the printing.
Oliver Edwards was 1st Lieutenant and Adjutant of the 10th Mass. from June 21, 1861 to June of 1862 when he was promoted to Major. He left the 10th in September of 1862 to assume command of the 37th Mass. as Colonel. He was promoted to Brigadier General by Brevet on October 19, 1864 and Major General by Brevet on May 19, 1865.
