White porcelain canteen almost the same size as the regulation item. Item meas. approx. 9.00 inches from the tip of the spout to the bottom edge and approx. 8.00 inches across.
The very center of the canteen has a raised depiction of the GAR Membership medal. The spread-winged eagle and cannonballs are touched with gold gilt paint while the crossed cannons are outlined with it. The flag is painted with a blue field and red stripes while the stars and white stripes are left natural. The low areas of the drop are touched with gold gilt paint also.
The backside of the canteen is blank. The original red cord used for hanging the item remains and is in good shape.
The overall condition of the item is excellent with no chips or crackling. It is clean and exhibits only light wear from age and storage.
