Blue ribbon measuring approximately 2 1/4” wide x 7” long suspended from a round, metal hanger with straight pin back. Celluloid face of this ornate brass hanger features the Civil War-era portrait of an unknown captain in uniform. Perhaps this is Captain Charles Mickley who was shot in the head at Pocotaligo Bridge. Theribbon reads, “32nd ANNUAL REUNION OF THE 47TH REG’T PENN. VET. VOL ASS’N. EASTON. OCTOBER 22, 1904. POCOTALIGO, S.C. OCTOBER 22, 1862. WE ARE BOYS ONCE MORE.” Printing is in gold but much of the text is worn and hard to read. The ribbon shows some wear and there are several pin holes. Overall, this is a solid ribbon.
The 47th PA. Infantry was organized at Harrisburg August and September, 1861. Fought at Frampton's Plantation and Pocotaligo Bridge, the Red River Campaign, Sabine Cross Roads, Sheridan's Shenandoah Valley Campaign, Winchester, Fisher's Hill, and Cedar Creek. Mustered out December 25, 1865. The regiment’s losses were: 5 officers and 112 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and
3 officers and 170 enlisted men by disease. Total 290. [jet]
