Top hangar reads, “1896 SOUTH BEND”. Original pin is present on reverse. Suspended from this is a red silk ribbon which attaches to a round bronze medal that has an image of Schuyler Colfax, who was elected Speaker of the House in 1863, with his name encircling image. Reverse reads, “SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL ENCAMPMENT DEPARTMENT INDIANA / G.A.R. SOUTH BEND / MAY 13-14, 1896”.
Measures 3 ½” long. Ribbon has light surface dirt in areas but no fraying. [sl]
