This small group of documents is identified to John Ellis Throckmorton of Freehold, New Jersey.

Two of the documents are commissions. There are preprinted and filled in with type. One promotes Throckmorton to 1^st Lieutenant in the US Army and is dated October 31, 1918 while the other appoints him a 1^st Lieutenant of Infantry in the Officer’s Reserve Corps of the Army of the United States. This document is dated April 28, 1920. Both documents are in excellent condition and meas. approx. 8.00 x 10.50 inches and are very clean with no fold lines. Both are signed by the Adjutant General and the Assistant Secretary of War.

The third document meas. approx. 10.50 x 7.00 inches. Document is preprinted and filled in with ink. This document states that John E. Throckmorton has completed the course for training as an Infantry Officer. Document is dated April 19, 1918 and is signed by the commanding officer of the school, Major James Jones of the 104^th Ammunition Train of the 29^th Division. Document has light surface dirt and two fold lines which do not show as pronounced on the front of the document as on the back.

Lt. Throckmorton was assigned to several units within the 29^th Division. He was in Co. C, 114^th Infantry and Co. E, 115^th Infantry. He then moved to Co. D, 383^rd Infantry, 96^th Division and HQ Company, 90^th Infantry, 20^th Division. All this service was spent in the United States.
