American made US Model 1917 helmet with camouflage painted body using green, yellow, red and brown paint with black dividing lines. One side has red 28th Division “Keystone” insignia that is 100% intact. The rest of the exterior shows moderate to heavy wear on the surface. There is some scattered paint loss. Helmet has no dents but does have two rust spots near the crown.
Interior has no liner or chinstrap. Both chinstrap keepers are present and attached to the helmet with round rivets.
The 28th Division was made up of National Guard units from Pennsylvania and saw action in the Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne, Ypres-Lys and Muse-Argonne operations. [ad]
