This pattern 1910 garrison belt is made of light green web material and closes via a two piece tongue and wreath buckle made of brass.

The body of the belt is in excellent condition. It is both strong and clean. Attached to one end is a brass tongue with the raised letters “U.S.” Attached to the opposite end is a plain brass wreath.

Also attached to the belt on either side of the buckle are two web pouches for carrying on 5 round clip of rifle ammunition. Each pocket is fastened by a rimmed eagle snap that is marked on the underside “MILLS MILITARY FASTENER.”

Also on the belt is the rare leather “O” ring and snap hook for holding the 1903 Springfield rifle. The web belt sides through the keeper on top of the “O” ring mount which is backed with leather. The body of the ring itself is iron and is made so the leather padded ring can fold up or down. Also suspended from the ring mount is a leather strap approx. 1.00 inch wide x 18.50 inches long and is adjustable for height with a snap hook at the end.

When the mounted man carries the Model 1903 rifle he places the butt in a leather boot attached to the saddle. He then runs the rifle’s muzzle through the “O” ring on his belt which he has snapped in the up position. With the rifle butt in the boot on the saddle the “O” ring comes to rest near the lower band holding the weapon vertical. He then attaches the strap with the snap hook to the triggerguard of the rifle.

The leather on this “O” ring is stamped both on the strap and mount backing with “1F 07.” The middle back of the web belt has a metal unit disc attached with Coast Artillery cannons and stamped “12 Co 6.”

The whole rig is in very nice condition. [ad]
