Item meas. approx. 10.00 x 14.75 inches and runs 16 pages. There is a water stain running diagonally across the upper half of the pages but otherwise it is in good condition.

The first page covers the military situation as it was in early 1864. Other articles carry titles such as “OUR CAVALRY,” “HARBOR DEFENSE,” “ADMISSIONS TO THE MILITARY ACDEMY,” “CORRESPONDENCE,” “MILITARY MATTERS IN CONGRESS,” “INSPECTION OF CAVALRY HORSE,” “THE STORY OF THE GUNS,” “CASTING OF A MONSTER GUN,” “ESCAPE OF UNION OFFICERS FROM RICHMOND,” “THE SPRING CAMPAIGN IN THE SOUTH WEST,” “NEW IRON-CLADS FOR THE BRITISH NAVY,” “ JEFF. DAVIS TO HIS SOLDIERS” and “WASHINGTON AND TRAITORS.” There are also numerous small advertisements by officers of the Army and Navy announcing their whereabouts or their return from hospitals and prison camps. Promotions are also listed as well as retirements. There are also numerous advertisements at the rear of the gazette.
