The full title of this volume is “HISTORY OF THE SECOND REGIMENT NEW HAMPSHIRE VOLUNTEERS, ITS CAMPS, MARCHES AND BATTLES” by Martin A. Haynes and published by Charles F. Livingston, Manchester, N. H. in 1865

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 5.00 x 7.50 inches and runs 224 pages with roster.

Dark brown cloth boards with a stippled surface are in nice condition but do show minor wear at top of the spine. Front cover has a stamped gold 3rd Corps badge with “HOOKER” at center. Title is in gold on the spine. Interior is very good though the page edges have yellowed with age. Binding is excellent.

The 2nd New Hampshire Infantry was organized on May 1, 1861 and are well-known for their heroic stand in the Peach Orchard on the second day of the battle of Gettysburg. They served in the 3rd , 18th and 24th Corps seeing action at1st Bull Run, the Peninsula, 2nd Bull Run, Gettysburg, Drewry’s Bluff, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. [AD] [PH:L]
