Button is of a convex, two piece construction measuring 23.5 mm. The firm Steel & Johnson produced this version from the years 1860-1861. The obverse of this example shows the Georgia State coat of arms on a plain background field. The reverse shows the merchant’s name of * E.G.MINTZER PHILA 1861 located in a raised mark depressed channel with stippled background. The obverse shows some gilt remaining, but is somewhat muted. There are no pushes or dents to the face. The shank is bent at about 45-degree angle and there is one separation at the base of the shank at the contact point of the base.
