This is a nice example of the P-53 socket bayonet for Enfield rifles. The blade is approximately 17” long. Top of blade stamped “E / [crown] / 25”. The overall surface condition is bright; minor spotting. Socket and elbow retain original bluing. Locking ring and screw in perfect order.
The scabbard is likewise in good condition. The “WD” (War Department) and broad arrow ordnance mark is present, stamped into the leather below the brass throat. Leather is in very good condition and seam stitching is firm and tight. The brass throat and tip show minor wear from storage. The scabbard tip is slightly loose. [jet][ph:L]
