Here is an original Civil War era tin of pistol-sized percussion caps made by Eley Brothers of London. This is a large 500 count size tin. Measures 2.25” in diameter by 1.7” tall. The japanned tin is very dark and in good condition with typical scratching to the overall finish. Tin still contains perhaps 10% of the pistol caps.
Original green label pasted to the top is in very good condition. Label is 98% complete with only minor edge chips. The label reads, “ELEY’S / Superior / SPORTING / Percussion Caps / (certified foil lined) / Manufacturers London.” A second, broken label on the side reads, “ELEY BROs / 500 / No. 11.”
Hard to find tin and a good accessory. [jet][ph:L]
