This is a resin replica of the full sized Maryland State monument that stands on the Gettysburg battlefield. The monument depicts two wounded Maryland soldiers, one Union and one Confederate, helping each other off the field. The figures are as detailed as the originals and stand approx. 16.00 inches high. Each soldier wears his accouterments and the Confederate also wears his blanket roll. Both figures are bareheaded. The Union soldier is wounded in the arm while the Confederate holds his leg. The figures are mounted on a black wooden base approx. 2.00 inches high by 11.00 inches long x 8 inches wide. The front of the base has a brass tag that reads “MARYLAND MEMORIAL AT GETTYSBURG.” The piece is signed and dated 1995 on the side of the base and the back is numbered 17/350. The piece is in excellent condition.

This casting, like the original Maryland State monument, was sculpted and designed by Lawrence M. Ludke. The original was dedicated November 13, 1994. It now stands along the Taneytown Road just south of Gettysburg near the site of the old cyclorama building.
