This oversized CDV is of a young man wearing a white jacket and trousers over a dark vest or coat with a white shirt and dark bowtie. He wears a straw hat and holds a pipe wrench by his side.
Bottom of the mount has a period ink inscription that reads “THE LAZIEST MECHANIC IN PHILA – N. B. HE DIDN’T GO TO WORK ‘AFTER ALL’ JAN 1862.”
Contrast and clarity are good. Bottom of the mount is trimmed. Top right corner of the paper is lifting from the mount and needs re-glued.
Reverse is blank. [ad][ph:L]
