Very nice Union case with an exterior decoration titled “CHILDREN AT PLAY.” Both the front and back of the case have a raised scrollwork border while at center are raised figures of three children playing with toys in a field flanked by trees.

Case is in excellent condition. Both brass hinges are good and the exterior has no chips or cracks.

Inside the case has a crushed red felt pillow with an arched scroll and stem worked into the felt. The interior also holds two ninth-plate tintypes. One of a young to middle-aged man in a dark suit and tie with white shirt. The other image is a seated view of a woman in a dark dress with a lace collar and brooch and white undersleeves. Both images have some discoloration around the edges. The image of the woman shows some light surface crackling.

It is hard to find Union cases in this good of a condition.  [ad] [ph:L]
