SIXTH-PLATE RUBY AMBROTYPE OF A VETERAN UNION SOLDIER & SON

$150.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 490-6147

Charming image of a soldier seated in front of a pastoral painted backdrop posed with one arm around his son who stands next to him.

The soldier wears a dark forage cap and dark shell jacket with veteran’s stripes on the sleeves. His jacket is open to reveal a buttoned up dark vest with white collar and bowtie. He also wears dark trousers.

The boy wears a dark shell jacket and light trousers. Though the jacket is buttoned his white collar and bowtie are still visible.

Contrast and clarity are very good though the image does have some light discoloration around the edge of the mat. Also, it appears as though someone tried to clean the image and has left rub lines on the faces of both subjects. These do not distort the facial features in any way.

Image comes in a full case with stamped brass frame and mat.  [ad][ph:L]
