This is an original .69 caliber Buck & Ball cartridge. Composed of a .69 caliber round ball with three .31 caliber buckshot on top. Wrapped in cartridge paper and tied with string between each portion. The cartridge paper remains strong and features the regulation folded tail on the bottom.
Cartridge is complete and solid and in overall good condition. It does have several dark “powder” rubs and a few “impressions” where it was packed very tightly against other cartridges. Complete and unbroken and will display well, but not the prettiest; priced accordingly.
This is a solid example of this multi-projectile round that was used in smoothbore muskets by both sides throughout the entire war. [jet] [ph:jet]
