Originally $1,650.00

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 846-106

This is a period tintype copy of an unidentified Confederate soldier proudly displaying his bowie knife and revolver. He is wearing a shell jacket and kepi. The brass buttons and guard of the knife have been highlighted in gold by the photographer. The soldier’s cheeks are tinted a light pink. Copies of this image were possibly made because the soldier died during the war. Image is clear with good contrast, but does not show the depth that the original would have had.

Mat has a gold gilt oval surrounding image and photographer’s imprint which reads, “J.B. MICHIE”, and signed, “P.J. HIGGINS, ARTIST”.

Oval Victorian frame is painted dark brown with applied leaf and acorn designs. Inside rim of frame is painted in gold gilt. Measures 12 ½” x 14 ½”. Shows minor surface scratches and chips.  [sl]
