We the owners and staff of The Horse Soldier mourn the sudden loss of long time staff member John Peterson. He was an integral part of of the shop for over 20 years. We will all miss him very much.

John joined the Horse Soldier staff in 2000. In years prior he managed the Farnsworth House book shop, and was a sales associate with the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago and The Military Bookman in New York. As an editor and writer, he edited the Farnsworth House commander series, and his essays have appeared in various national publications, including Harper's Magazine and the Kansas City Chief website. He was also a musician who performed at local venues.

Once an obituary is published we will post it here and on our Facebook page.
