Complete nice looking shell. The iron nose surface is mostly smooth with some very light surface pitting and rust. Should clean up easily. The lead cup sabot is also in very nice shape and exhibits 9 distinct lands and grooves. Nose is wide and rounded but this is not a case shot round. The nose has the remains of a Dyer time fuse.
This is a late war shell used mostly around Petersburg and Richmond.
This projectile was meant for us in the 4.5 inch Siege Rifle.
