The body of this shell is in overall nice condition. It is mostly smooth with only the lightest pitting and light surface rust.

The base of the shell is flat with a small drill hole from deactivation. The sides of the shell have six vertical flanges to fit the rifling of a Blakely rifle. The fuse at top is the brass Britten percussion fuse.

These shells are sometimes referred to by the name of the manufacturer Fawcett, Preston & Company of England but they were meant for use in the Blakely rifle and so bear that name.
