Three medical volumes and three surgical, in parts 1, 2, and 3. Published by the Government Printing Office, Washington, DC, 1870-1888. General editor, U.S. Surgeon General, Joseph K. Barnes.
Medical Vol. pt. 2, and Surgical vol. pt. 1 are second issue, and surgical part three volume has ex-library markings. The surgical pt. 3 volume also contains front endpaper book-stamp of Isaiah Bee, who during the war enlisted with the 31st Virginia, and later served as Surgeon with Alfred Jenkins ANV cavalry brigade.
All volumes are of large folio size, and of various pagination, published in green glazed cloth w/gilt spine lettering; and, all exhibit light wear at the extremities. Medical pt. 1 displays light insect scouring on upper spine, while all three surgical volumes are moderately chipped head and foot. All volumes have relatively tight spines and are in good plus condition overall. Solid, handsome set. [jp]
